Scuba Diving Trips from Phuket Diving Koh Tachai Koh Tachai lies 25 miles North - North East of the Similan Islands. You can see Koh Bon to the South and the Surin Islands to the North. Koh Tachai has been declared a Marine Sanctuary and any form of fishing or activity that is harmful in any way to the natural splendour of this remote tranquil dive site is prohibited. Koh Tachai is noted for both it's profusion of marine life and it's interesting topography. The best diving is along a submerged ridge that runs South from the Southern end of the Island. The area is quite large and warrants around three dives to fully explore and appreciate it. Leopard sharks are common at depth around 25 - 35 metres and the area also has large schools of Giant Barracuda. Fan corals are abundant, as are whip corals, soft corals and barrel sponges. The remoteness of his site makes an ideal get away from the high season crowds that frequent the Similan Islands.
